At Kollengode Agro Mills Pvt Ltd, excellence begins at the root. We source premium paddy directly from trusted local farmers in Kollengode, Palakkad, ensuring traceability, freshness, and ethical sourcing from day one.

Every batch undergoes a rigorous paddy quality test before entering our mill, where it's carefully dried and stored in climate-optimized warehouses for a minimum of 6 months. This critical aging phase enhances aroma, texture, and cooking quality — a step that sets our rice apart globally.

Post-aging, the paddy moves through our state-of-the-art processing line.

Rice Milling Facility

1. Pre-Cleaning Unit

Before milling, raw paddy undergoes pre-cleaning to remove impurities such as stones, dust, chaff, and straw.

  • Benefits: Prevents damage to machinery and improves processing efficiency
  • Equipment Used: Vibratory Cleaner, De-stoner, Magnetic Separator

2. Boiling & Parboiling Section

Paddy is soaked, steamed, and dried in a controlled environment.

  • Purpose: Enhances grain strength, improves shelf life, locks in nutrients
  • Key Features: Uniform boiling to ensure consistent quality, Hygienic water use, Efficient drying to maintain optimal moisture levels

3. Drying Unit

Mechanically reduces moisture to ~12%-14%.The boiled paddy is dried using mechanical driers to reduce moisture content to an ideal level (~12%-14%).

  • Result: Prevents mold, increases shelf life, and ensures milling efficiency
  • Dryer Type: Multi-stage vertical paddy dryers with temperature control

4. Rubber Shelling & Husk Separation

Once dried, paddy enters the rubber sheller to remove the husk and produce brown rice.

  • Advantage: Low grain breakage, maximum yield
  • Next Step: Husk is separated using aspiration systems

5. Paddy Separator

Separates unhusked paddy from brown rice..

  • Why It Matters: Only fully dehusked grains proceed for polishing; remaining paddy is reprocessed for maximum recovery

6. Whitening & Polishing

Brown rice is processed in whiteners and silky polishers to remove bran layers.

  • Options:Light, medium, or full polish based on client needs (especially for bran-rich or health-focused markets)
  • Output: Smooth, shiny, consumer-ready rice

7. Grading System

Rice is passed through graders and sieves to sort it based on length, width, and broken percentage.

  • Precision: Consistent grain size = better cooking quality and presentation

8. Color Sorting (Sortex Technology)

Advanced optical sorters detect and remove discolored, immature, or chalky grains and foreign materials.

  • Benefit: Ensures 100% purity and visual appeal

9. Advanced Conveying to Export Packing Unit

Once fully processed, rice is transported to the export packing unit via automated elevators and conveyors, ensuring a smooth and hygienic transition.

  • Features: Accurate weight control, Tamper-proof sealing, Printed packaging with private labeling options

10. Final Weighing, Packing & Sealing

Rice is packed in customized bags (1kg to 50kg or buyer-specific packaging) using automated packing machines.

  • Features: Accurate weight control, Tamper-proof sealing, Printed packaging with private labeling options

11. Quality Control Checkpoints

At each critical stage of processing, rice samples are tested for.

  • Moisture content
  • Broken percentage
  • Length & polish level
  • Color, bran content, foreign matter
  • Packaging integrity
